The Tampa Bay area includes some of the best high schools in Florida. Students attending Plant High, Palm Harbor University High, Strawberry Crest High, Bloomingdale High, Wiregrass Ranch High, Berkeley Preparatory, Tampa Preparatory, Academy at the Lakes, and several other high schools have access to excellent instruction, state-of-the-art learning technology, and networks of academically motivated and competitive peers. Yet, many of these same students don’t always have access to adequate college-related guidance, specifically the intensive support needed to earn entry into good-fit colleges. Recent estimates by the National Association for College Admission Counseling reveal that student-to-counselor ratios at Tampa Bay area high schools are approaching 450-to-1, meaning that Tampa Bay students receive, on average, only 30 minutes of individual college guidance from their high schools each year, which, unfortunately, is not sufficient to successfully navigate the college admissions process. This is why many Tampa Bay area families seek out college consulting.
