Top International Relations Colleges

As an international relations major, you’ll gain an understanding of diplomatic relations on a world stage through the study of foreign cultures, leaders, history, military, and economic factors. At many schools, students will pick a geographical region of concentration. For example, Tufts University offers students five areas of focused study: Europe and the Former Soviet Union, Latin America, East and Southeast Asia, Africa, or the Middle East and South Asia.

Earning a degree in international relations will prepare students for careers in a wide array of careers including working for the Foreign Service or the United Nations or pursuing options in international business or post-secondary teaching (with advanced degrees).

What do you need to make it in an International Relations program?

International relations majors need to possess strong research, writing, and analytical abilities. The development of abilities in at least one foreign language as well as interpersonal skills will greatly aid students when they enter the job market.
