Rhode Island College Consulting

New findings released by the National Association for College Admission Counseling reveals that student-to-counselor ratios in Rhode Island are exceedingly high, more than 400-to-1 at many high schools throughout the state. Rhode Island’s school counselors are competent and adequately-trained, and support the academic and personal well-being of the state’s students; however, due to manifold job roles and growing caseloads, most counselors can no longer devote the time and attention needed to effectively guide students through the college search, admissions, and financial aid process. As a result, many Rhode Island students are left without the help needed to successfully complete important college-related tasks. These tasks include creating a list of prospective colleges, planning high school coursework and extracurricular participation, applying to internships and summer programs, navigating college application requirements, completing college application forms, writing college essays, and securing financial aid and college scholarships.

College Transitions aims to address the current college admission-related needs of Rhode Island families, primarily by offering comprehensive college planning and admissions consulting services to students and families living in Providence, Newport, East Greenwich, Barrington, Narragansett, Kingston, Blackstone, Cranston, Westerly, Portsmouth and other Rhode Island locations. As higher education researchers and college admission professionals, we develop research-backed college admissions strategies that help our students earn entry into selective and reputable colleges throughout the U.S., including many in New England, such as Brown University, Harvard University, MIT, Tufts University, Boston College, Williams College, Wesleyan University, Yale University, and others. Our results attest to the effectiveness of our college planning program.

Over the past several years, College Transitions has aided students at a number of Rhode Island high schools, including East Greenwich High, Barrington High, Portsmouth High, Beacon Charter, Moses Brown, St. George’s, Wheeler, and several others.
