Plus, the best homeschool programs offer many of the same opportunities as on-ground high schools, like dual enrollment, AP courses, and NCAA-approved athletic eligibility. Accredited homeschool programs have played an instrumental role in making online education more accessible. Students can now learn from a challenging and certified high school curriculum from the comfort of home. The best homeschool programs provide top-notch educational materials, student support, and rigorous academics for students at any grade level. Plus, accredited homeschool programs employ licensed teachers and offer highly-rated career and college prep guidance, so students do not miss out on access to these valuable resources.

Below we have assembled a list of accredited homeschool programs and defined where each school’s accreditation is from. While this list is ordered numerically, it is important to note that the list does not intend to provide any kind of further ranking.
Additionally, it is also important to note that this is not a comprehensive list. There are other homeschooling programs available that offer wonderful curriculums. So, now that we are all on the same page, let’s get started.
Accredited Homeschool Programs
1) K12 (Stride)
Accreditation: Cognia
With a heavy emphasis on college preparation, K12 offers a program called Stride Career Prep for grades 6-12. In addition to taking core classes, students can also take elective and interest-specific courses to tailor their schedule to their future career goals. For example, students can take courses in hospitality and tourism, IT, marketing, and criminal justice, among others.
Classes are online, and students attend regularly scheduled lessons with state-certified teachers. All K12 teachers are state-certified and specially trained to teach online instruction, with ongoing professional development to keep them current on the most effective instructional methods. Students also have access to a Learning Coach who will help support and guide them on the path to graduation. With the help of K12’s college prep coaching, students learn how to create a resume, set attainable goals, solidify their career direction, and more.
K12 is part of Stride, Inc., which serves more than 3 million registered learners through its managed public schools, private schools, and learning solutions. Enrollment for the 2026-27 school year is currently open.
2) Connections Academy
Accreditation: Cognia
Backed by Pearson, Connections Academy provides full lesson planning online and in print, plus a curriculum that meets state standards. Many individual Connections Academy schools also hold regional accreditation in addition to Cognia, which gives families some extra confidence on the credit-portability front.
Both teachers and Learning Coaches work with students to determine and customize a best-fit schedule based on their interests and goals. Students will need to be able to attend teacher-led synchronous online sessions, but the student has a lot of flexibility to determine the best use of the rest of their time. High school students can still make time for socializing, sports, and community involvement.
Plus, if students are interested in pursuing athletics at the collegiate level, they will be happy to know that Connections Academy offers NCAA-approved classes. Connections Academy is a tuition-free public school in most states, aligned with state standards and funded by state tax dollars. Families only pay for typical school expenses, like supplies or optional field trips.
3) Bridgeway Academy
Accreditation: Cognia; Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC); NCA CASI; SACS CASI; Pennsylvania Department of Education; National Association of Private Schools; NCAA-approved
Founded in 1989, Bridgeway Academy has helped more than 40,000 PreK-12 students find an academic plan that works for them. Over its 36+ years, the program has built one of the deepest accreditation stacks of any homeschool option.
Bridgeway has restructured its enrollment options into three tiers: Academy Select (a custom learning plan with a dedicated advisor and hand-picked courses), Academy Premium (an all-in-one program with live online classes, certified teachers, and an Academic Success Advisor), and Academy Nobilis (a deeply personalized program designed for neurodivergent learners and students who need more support, with limited enrollment by design). All three are fully accredited, and the academy commits to never raising your tuition rate for the life of your enrollment.
Bridgeway also offers a dual enrollment program through partner colleges, including Ohio Christian University, Southeastern University, Trine University, Western Texas College, and Indiana Institute of Technology. Students can earn both high school and college credit for up to eight courses, working directly with college professors and graduating with both an accredited high school transcript and a college transcript.
4) Acellus Academy
Accreditation: Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC); College Board (AP courses); NCAA-approved
Acellus Academy is an accredited online private school based in Kansas City, Missouri. Students have access to engaging video-based lessons, extra help videos, and personalized instruction via Acellus Vectored Instruction, which identifies areas for improvement and serves targeted lessons. Two graduation pathways are available: a standard track and an honors track. For the honors pathway, students must graduate with a 3.0 GPA and 26 credits. Enrollment is open year-round.
In addition to core courses like sciences, mathematics, and language arts, students have the opportunity to select electives and AP courses, including AP U.S. History, biology, calculus, psychology, and others. Foreign language options include Spanish, Portuguese, French, and German, and students can also take Career & Technical Education courses in business management, electrical technology, plumbing technology, and accounting, among others.
Worth noting: Acellus also runs a non-accredited sister product called Power Homeschool, which uses the same video curriculum at a lower price but does not issue an accredited diploma or transcript. The price gap has widened recently, so families should make sure to enroll in the Academy version if accreditation is a priority. The Roger Billings Scholarship can reduce Acellus Academy tuition by up to 70%.
5) The Keystone School
Accreditation: Cognia; Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools’ Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS)
Keystone has been operating since 1974 and now serves families in all 50 states and more than 75 countries, with 50+ years of experience in online and homeschool learning. At the high school level, students who partake in this program can enjoy flexible, online courses. If needed, students can also take print courses and receive all learning materials in a print format. Not only are AP and honors courses available, but students can also enroll in a wide variety of electives.
For example, students can take classes in fine arts to experience subjects like music appreciation, 3D modeling, and art history. World language options include Spanish, Chinese, French, and ASL. Other electives include culinary arts, criminology, and game design. Middle and high school students receive guidance counseling and Student Success Advisors to help plan the best path toward graduation, plus one-on-one support from licensed and certified teachers.
6) Forest Trail Academy
Accreditation: Cognia; Middle States Association Commission on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA CESS); Accreditation International (Ai); plus several state-level approvals
At Forest Trail Academy, the high school curriculum is thoughtfully developed at each stage to ensure students in grades 9-12 hit certain benchmarks. For example, students in 9th grade build out their understanding of core subjects like English, math, and social studies. By 12th grade, students are introduced to more advanced topics and have the opportunity to take AP classes and seek dual enrollment opportunities.
Students can also choose from many practical and interesting elective courses. For instance, they can enroll in zoology, career planning, theatre, dance history appreciation, and even television production. The academy offers two diploma options: a college prep diploma (24 credits) or a general education diploma (21 credits).
7) Oak Meadow
Accreditation: New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
Families can choose between a book-based curriculum that can be used independently or full enrollment in a teacher-supported distance learning school. While based in Vermont, the school can enroll students from every U.S. state and even international learners.
The high school curriculum covers many college-prep subjects. Additionally, students can take art and health classes. Plus, enrolled students can take world language courses. For enrolled students to earn a diploma, they must complete 22 credits across 10 disciplines.
Independent students can take advantage of a fee-based college counseling service. Enrolled students do not have to pay an additional fee for college counseling. These students receive an annual transcript review each spring and a guidance counselor review of college application materials.
8) Calvert Academy
Accreditation: Cognia
Whether you are looking for AP classes, Career & Technical Education classes, or personalized electives, Calvert Academy offers it all. With AP classes like U.S. History, biology, psychology, and Spanish Language and Culture, the high school course catalogue includes specialized classes for a wide range of learners.
With flexible scheduling, students can also create their own school calendar and take lessons at any time of day. Students have access to one-on-one teacher support and can move at their own ideal pace. Furthermore, students can choose between an interactive online curriculum and a print-issued curriculum. Calvert traces its roots back to 1897 in Baltimore, making it one of the oldest distance learning programs in the United States.
9) Archway Online
Accreditation: Ai Commission on Accreditation; NCPSA (National Council for Private Schools Association); Middle States Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools
With the vision of helping students transfer from traditional high school to homeschool, Archway Online was founded in 2008. Students get flexible scheduling so that high schoolers still have time for socializing, work, internships, and other daily activities.
If students are transferring to Archway Online, the school will need to review a transcript to see which courses are recommended for graduation requirements. Students may also need to take an exam to validate any transfer credits. Enrollment is year-round, and students have access to their coursework 24/7 for maximum flexibility.
10) Abeka Academy
Accreditation: Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Schools; Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools
A Christian-focused homeschool, Abeka provides flexible options for students looking to homeschool. If desired, parents can develop their own curriculum from available Abeka products. For example, Abeka provides DVD or streaming video lessons, subject kits, teacher editions, quiz and test books, and more.
With an emphasis on intellectual, spiritual, and moral development, the academy takes an approach to learning called Spiral Learning. Essentially, this means that students begin with basic concepts and then progress into more evolved topics at age-appropriate times. The desired outcome of this approach is for greater learning retention over time with multiple opportunities for reinforcement.
As well, the academy participates in homeschooling conventions and hosts online events. Families can learn more about specialized topics in these events, as well as participate in general Q&As.
11) Northgate Academy
Accreditation: Cognia; Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools
This homeschooling program is a Christian-based program. Students here have a lot of flexibility over their schedules. For example, students do not have a designated class time or synchronous online sessions, so students can learn at their own pace in their own time. It is expected that students will spend 15-20 hours a week on coursework.
At this school, high schoolers can choose between one of two tracks for graduation: the standard track (21.5 credits) or the college prep track (24 credits). Either way, students will be expected to complete English, math, science, social studies, health, P.E., art, and elective classes. Students on the college prep track are required to take foreign language classes.
12) Ignite Christian Academy
Accreditation: Cognia
As its name suggests, this homeschool offers a Christian-focused curriculum. The academy features the benefits of a private school combined with the customization and flexibility of homeschool.
For students looking to get a jump on their college education, juniors and seniors can earn college credit toward an Associate Degree with Oklahoma Christian University. To be eligible, students must start making progress toward this degree in the fall semester of their junior year. For maximum flexibility in scheduling, students can create their own school calendar and have access to courses and lessons at any time of day.
13) Laurel Springs School
Accreditation: Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC); Cognia; NCAA-approved; UC a-g approved
Laurel Springs is a fully accredited K-12 online private school that has been operating since 1991. Based in Ojai, California, the school has graduated more than 6,200 students and currently enrolls roughly 2,700 from around the world.
The high school course catalog includes more than 240 college-prep courses, 47+ Honors and AP courses (including AP Capstone), 65+ world language courses, 11 college-credit courses, and 160+ NCAA-approved courses, which makes Laurel Springs a popular choice for student-athletes, performing artists, and international or military families who need a portable, recognized diploma.
Learning is mostly self-paced and accessible 24/7, but students stay connected through 90+ virtual clubs, in-person field trips, honors societies, and an annual Year End Celebration with on-site prom and graduation. 14) Pearson Online Academy
Accreditation: Middle States Association of Colleges & Schools (MSA); Cognia (via SACS CASI and NCA CASI); NCAA-approved (core high school courses)
Pearson Online Academy is the private-school sibling of Connections Academy, both backed by Pearson. The school enrolls students from more than 60 countries and uses a blended learning model that pairs about 70% self-paced work with 30% live teacher instruction. Pearson Online Academy completed its Middle States reaccreditation in 2022 with an Exceeds Expectations rating.
The course catalog is broad, with K-12 coverage, advanced and AP courses, and an exclusive College Acceleration Program through which students can earn college credit while still in high school. Family-friendly features include rolling enrollment, asynchronous coursework that accommodates global time zones, military and multi-child tuition discounts, and full IEP/504 plan accommodation with assistive technology integration. The student-teacher ratio is around 39:1, so the model is more independent than at smaller-class options like Laurel Springs or Stanford Online High School, but the price point is also lower.
15) Stanford Online High School
Accreditation: Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC); California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS); Council of International Schools (CIS) member
Founded in 2006 within Stanford University, Stanford OHS is a selective independent school for grades 7-12 that draws students from 48 U.S. states and 47 countries. It is the most rigorous and most selective program on this list and is best suited to academically advanced students who can handle a college-style schedule.
Courses meet in live, synchronous online seminars on a flipped-classroom model: students prepare assignments in advance and then meet to discuss them with classmates and instructors. Class sizes are small and discussion-based. Of Stanford OHS instructors, 64% hold PhDs in their fields and another 34% hold master’s degrees.
The curriculum includes 40+ early-college and college major equivalent courses, plus traditional Honors and AP options. Student support includes dedicated SEL and wellness counselors, academic advisors, and college counselors.
