It’s hard to think of a credential that is more relevant and coveted in the contemporary global marketplace than that which demonstrates a knowledge of artificial intelligence. In a world driven by Siri, Alexa, ChatGPT, and self-operating cars, it’s no wonder that universities are quickly launching AI programs for undergraduate students. Coursework consists of areas such as Machine Learning, Decision-making & Robotics, Perception & Language, Human-AI Interaction, and Ethics & AI. Those that emerge encounter a job market where the supply does not come close to matching demand resulting in six-figure salaries for skilled young people. Many of the schools on our Best Colleges for Artificial Intelligence list are institutions with elite engineering and computer sciences such as Carnegie Mellon, Stanford, Georgia Tech, and MIT, but you will also find a share of moderately selective universities that can still fully prepare you for this lucrative career.
Finally, note that although many of the colleges featured below do not offer a formal major in artificial intelligence (very few do), their undergraduate offerings in this subject area are so strong that they warrant inclusion on our list.
