The Immersion is a unique experience for adults seeking to find their place in the natural world. During this 9-month program, students experience their surroundings from the complementary approaches of scientific study and the practice of survival skills, nature connection, and self-discovery. The program is facilitated through eight core areas of study: Wilderness Survival and Bushcraft, Naturalist Studies, Wildlife Tracking, Land Stewardship, Personal Growth, Cultural Studies, Community Leadership, and Bird Language.
Students in The Immersion form a tightly knit learning community that is supported by a larger community of staff, elders, graduates, and other Wilderness Awareness School students of all ages. The community aspect of The Immersion is integral to forming deep connections with the natural world through shared reflections, storytelling, and group experience.
