Why Veritas Scholars Academy?

Before it began offering live online courses, Veritas spent nearly a decade creating educational resources for private school and homeschool families. Accordingly, Veritas knows a thing or two about putting together effective, engaging, and challenging classes; they’re now the most-awarded classical Christian education curriculum available

VSA’s expertise doesn’t stop at curriculum design. As an online learning provider for over twenty years—and accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools—they’re also highly skilled at delivering remote education to all ages. Although VSA’s programs are customizable, every single one operates at a high standard, building age-specific knowledge & skills, developing critical thinking, and cultivating a biblical worldview. As a result, Veritas graduates emerge ready and able to think with discernment, reason persuasively, express their views articulately, and carry their faith into their personal and professional lives, wherever their calling may be.

In addition to its mission and pedagogy, Veritas Scholars Academy is also unique in its degree of student support. As an online classical Christian school, Veritas hires the best of the best from around the world, resulting in a highly experienced teaching staff hailing from the United States, Australia, Scotland, Canada, and Mexico, to name a few. Moreover, over two-thirds of VSA’s 170+ teachers hold advanced degrees, and every single one is credentialed.

The support doesn’t stop outside of the classroom—full-time students work with academic advisors and part-time students work with family consultants to create comprehensive, thoughtful plans of study. No matter your academic background or goals, VSA’s staff will work with you to craft the best-fit program

What kind of academic experience can I expect?

Although you can attend Veritas part-time, their signature offering is the full-time Veritas Scholars Academy Diploma Program, which is available for students in grades K-12. All grades follow a classic liberal arts pedagogy that emphasizes the “trivium” of grammar, dialectic, and rhetoric, accomplished via age-specific courses in Latin, logic, and reasoning.

Accordingly, in the elementary years, Diploma students build a strong foundation by studying the Bible, history, reading, writing, and mathematics. Then, during their high school years, students take courses in English, languages, logic & rhetoric, mathematics, science, and Omnibus, Veritas’s Great Books curriculum that incorporates literature, history, and religion. A diverse array of classes are available, with over forty dual enrollment offerings and a whopping 75+ that qualify for Honors credit. Since many courses build on one another, students should start at Veritas as early as possible in order to have access to the most advanced classes at the high school level.

To earn an accredited Diploma with Veritas Scholars Academy, students have flexible options to fulfill requirements for different tracks. No matter your diploma track, over 80% of Veritas’ live classes are Honors level!

Then, within those diploma levels, students also have access to the following course delivery options (we told you Veritas was customizable!):

Live: Students and teachers meet twice a week for an interactive learning experience. Outside of class, students complete assignments in preparation for class meetings. Most Diploma students take 5-7 live courses per year.

Self-Paced: Completely asynchronous. Students engage in course material on their own schedule.

You Teach Diploma: Course completed under the supervision of a parent rather than a Veritas teacher. Only certain courses are available as YTD courses within the Diploma Program.

What is the student community like at Veritas?

Even though Veritas is an online classical Christian school, a real, thriving community awaits. At Veritas, you’ll not only meet twice a month with other students in your grade level but also participate in a robust spread of extracurricular activities, from student government and yearbook to special interest clubs centered around passions like cooking, programming, and photography.  In addition, mission trips, international field trips, and an end-of-year in-person gathering provide incredible opportunities to build authentic friendships, grow in your faith, and be exposed to new places and perspectives.

What are Veritas Scholars Academy’s college admissions highlights?

Over the past two decades, Veritas grads have been accepted at dozens of colleges and universities around the country and globe. These range from prestigious research institutions like Harvard, Columbia, MIT, Cornell, the University of Notre Dame, and the University of Georgia to military service academies to small Christian colleges like Wheaton College, Hillsdale College, and New Saint Andrews College. Moreover, last year’s Veritas grads did quite well on the merit aid front, accepting an impressive average of $54,000 each in college scholarships and grants.
