Long Island College Consulting

New findings released by the National Association for College Admission Counseling reveals that student-to-counselor ratios in Long Island are exceedingly high, more than 400-to-1 at many high schools throughout the state. Long Island’s school counselors are competent, adequately-trained, and support the academic and personal well-being of the state’s students; however, due to manifold job roles and growing caseloads, most counselors can no longer devote the time and attention needed to effectively guide students through the college search, admissions, and financial aid process. As a result, many Long Island students are left without the help needed to successfully navigate the college admissions process and ultimately enroll at suitable college and universities. These tasks include creating a list of prospective colleges, planning high school coursework and extracurricular participation, applying to internships and summer programs, understanding college application requirements, completing college application forms, writing college essays, and securing financial aid and college scholarships. This is why many Long Island families seek out private college consulting.

College Transitions aims to address the current college admission-related needs of Long Island families, primarily by offering comprehensive college planning and admissions consulting services to students and families living in Stony Brook, Port Jefferson, Dix Hills, Greenlawn, Commack, Melville, Cold Spring Harbor and other Suffolk County locations. As higher education researchers and college admission professionals, we develop research-backed college admissions strategies that help our students earn entry into selective and reputable colleges throughout the U.S., including many in New York, such as Columbia University, Colgate University, Hamilton College, Vassar College, University of Rochester, SUNY Binghamton, and others. Our results attest to the effectiveness of our college planning program.

Over the past several years, College Transitions has aided students at a number of Long Island high schools, including Jericho Senior High, Manhasset Secondary School, Great Neck South High, Roslyn High, Cold Spring Harbor High, Syosset Senior High, Oyster Bay High, Garden City High, Harborfields High, and several others.
