Charlotte, NC— Dr. Michael Trivette was featured on WSOC-TV in Charlotte for a segment focusing on the increase in federal student loan interest rates for the 2018-19 academic year. In the segment, Michael encourages students and families to be mindful when using student loans to finance their undergraduate education. For those curious about the increase, the federal direct student loan interest rate is now 5.05%, a 13% increase from last year. The rate for unsubsidized graduate student loans is 6.60% (up from 6.0%), while parent and graduate PLUS loan rates are now 7.60% (previously at 7.0%).
