Much is made of the minuscule acceptance rates at some of the most prestigious colleges in the United States. For example, Harvard admitted only 3.59% of applicants in 2024 and Columbia admitted 3.85%. Fortunately, for all of you B students with strong but nowhere near “perfect” credentials, there are a number of fine institutions that would be more than happy to provide you with a wonderful education. Many Ivy and Ivy equivalent schools require a 3.9+ unweighted GPA for serious consideration. However, the 50 schools that made our Best Colleges for B Students list have more human average GPA figures and take a good number of high schoolers who did not land in the top 10% or even the top 25% of their graduating classes.
