Making a living as a dance performer or choreographer is notoriously difficult and requires a great deal of hard work as well as innate talent. Fortunately, jobs that involve dance are not limited to Broadway and the world’s major ballets. Theme parks, cruise ships, and dance studios all employ a good number of dance majors. Additionally, many dancers teach dance to children as a primary or supplementary source of income. Some of the top schools to study dance are obvious, such as NYU or Juilliard, but you will also find lesser-known institutions gracing our list where many of the next generation of performers will learn their craft.
